Under the Net Billing Tariff, exported power earns only a few cents per kWh while the electricity you buy back costs many times more. So the goal isn’t to build the biggest array possible — it’s to build a system whose output you actually use.
That changes the design. We look at when you use power, not just how much. We size the array to your consumption pattern, then add storage so midday surplus carries you through the expensive evening window instead of being sold off cheap.
It also means we’ll tell you when a smaller system is the better buy. Oversizing a roof to chase an export credit that no longer exists is the most common way homeowners overspend on solar in 2026.

We review 12 months of bills, measure your roof, and check shading, roof condition, and your existing electrical panel.
Design & proposal
You get a written proposal: equipment, layout, production estimate, price, and honest payback math — line by line.
Permits
We prepare plans and pull city permits, and submit your interconnection application to the utility.
Installation
Most residential installs take one to three days on site, depending on system size and whether a panel upgrade is involved.
Inspection & PTO
City inspection, then Permission to Operate from the utility. We manage the paperwork and the follow-up.
Switch on & support
Your system goes live, we walk you through monitoring, and we’re local if you ever need us.

Common questions
Installation, answered
How long does installation take?
The on-site work is usually one to three days for a typical home. The full timeline — assessment, design, permitting, install, inspection, and utility Permission to Operate — more often runs several weeks to a few months, with permitting and utility approval being the slowest and least predictable parts.
Will my roof need work first?
Possibly. If your roof is near the end of its life, it’s far cheaper to reroof before panels go on than to remove and reinstall them later. We flag this during the assessment and coordinate the sequencing so you’re not paying twice.
Do I need an electrical panel upgrade too?
Sometimes. Older homes with 100-amp service often need more capacity to add solar, a battery, and EV charging safely. We check your existing panel during the assessment and tell you up front — it’s not an upsell we spring on you mid-project.
What about the federal tax credit?
The 30% federal residential credit (Section 25D) expired December 31, 2025 for purchased and loan-financed systems. Lease and PPA customers may still benefit indirectly, since the financing company can claim a commercial credit. We’ll walk you through what genuinely applies to your situation, with no wishful math.
Can I add a battery later instead?
Yes, though it’s usually cheaper to do it at the same time as your solar because the electrical work and permitting overlap. If budget means starting with panels alone, we’ll design the system so a battery can be added cleanly later.
