The difference a real charger makes
The cord that came with your car plugs into a standard household outlet. That’s Level 1 charging, and it adds only a handful of miles of range per hour — fine for a plug-in hybrid, frustrating for anything else.
Level 2 runs on a 240-volt circuit, the same kind of service a clothes dryer uses, and charges many times faster. In practice it means plugging in when you get home and waking up to a full battery, every time, without thinking about it.
Paired with solar, it gets better. If you can charge during daylight — a work-from-home day, a weekend, a second car that sits in the driveway — you’re running your car on power that would otherwise export to the grid for a few cents. That’s the single cheapest mile you’ll ever drive.

A dedicated 240V circuit run by licensed electricians, with the charger mounted and wired to code.
Inspection
City inspection to confirm the work meets code. We handle scheduling and are there for it.

We test it with your vehicle and help you configure scheduled charging to hit the cheapest hours.

Common questions
EV charging, answered
Do I need an electrical panel upgrade for an EV charger?
Sometimes, but not always. A Level 2 charger draws significant power, and homes with older 100-amp service or a full panel may not have room. Some situations can be solved with a load management device instead of a full upgrade — we assess first and tell you honestly which applies rather than defaulting to the bigger job.
Can I install an EV charger myself?
We’d strongly advise against it. A 240V circuit is serious electrical work, EV charger installations require a permit and inspection in California, and unpermitted work can create fire risk, insurance problems, and headaches when you sell the home. This is a job for a licensed electrician.
Which charger should I buy?
Most major Level 2 chargers do the core job well, so the real differences are connector type for your vehicle, indoor versus outdoor rating, cord length, and whether you want scheduling and app features. Tell us your car and where it parks, and we’ll give you a straight recommendation.
Should I install it at the same time as solar?
If you’re doing both, yes — almost always. The electrical work, permitting, and site visits overlap heavily, so bundling costs less and disrupts your home once instead of twice. It also lets us size everything as one coherent system.
Will charging at home spike my electric bill?
It adds load, but far less than public charging costs, and much less still if you charge from solar or during off-peak hours. The mistake to avoid is charging during the 4–9 p.m. peak window. We’ll help you set a schedule that avoids it.
